How to Paint a Car Picture
Posted by admin in Paint A Car on December 27, 2011
So why is painting a picture of a car so hard compared to say a flower? Well, the main thing here with cars is if you don’t carry out every line in perfect proportion, if you just happen to make one little mistake then it can completely ruin the whole painting. The reason behind this is our brains are very good at remembering shapes and details around it. While a pink tulip can have different shades, come in different sizes, have different leaves etc, a car model remains the same, so when faced with a difference our brain will tend to spot it right away.
The idea is when you decide to start your next car painting, try to take your time and don’t rush the early stages, i am referring here to the part where you try to get all of the proportions right before starting to shade or paint your creation. Don’t let it get you down if you are not extremely talented with shading techniques or not the even the best with colors when you draw cars. The fact of the matter is, if you don’t manage to get the proportions right at the beginning the end result is usually a disaster. So you need to understand before going any further how important it is to get the proportions right. Which leaves us with the question of How do you do it? How do I do it?
Your first step is to start out with a clean sheet of paper, most preferably a pretty big one. Then go and find a picture of a car that inspires you to draw, a good picture of a car. This picture will now be used as a reference for your car painting or drawing. Read the rest of this entry »
How To Paint A Car – Tips For Achieving Great Results
Posted by admin in Paint A Car on December 27, 2011
Tired of old, faded paint on your pride and joy or just wanting a change of color? Rest assured paying a small fortune to a panel shop for a repaint is not your only option. With these tips I’m about to share with you and a bit of elbow grease there is no reason why you can’t paint your car yourself, and achieve great results.
1. Preparation – don’t rush the time spent preparing your vehicle. A little bit of care taken and attention to detail in the preparation stage can be the difference between an average paint job and a really good one. While the preparation stage is typically the most time consuming, you need to look at it as laying the foundation for your repaint and if you cut any corners here the end result will surely be affected. Take your time and ensure that you follow all the necessary steps.
2. Chose The Best Spray Equipment You Can Afford – choosing the cheapest alternative here is a guaranteed recipe for disaster. If you can’t afford a decent spray gun and a compressor that will supply enough air for the job consider hiring out the equipment for a day or two. If your repaint is likely to be a one-off hiring the equipment you need may be a more cost effective solution anyway.
3. Practice, Practice And Then Practice Some More! – spray painting, like a lot of things in life, takes practice to get right. Before you commit to spraying your vehicle it is a good idea to become familiar with the spray gun settings, how the spray pattern is affected by the various controls and, most importantly, take the time to practice making even, consistent passes with the gun. If you don’t have a panel to practice on quite often a panel shop will have scrap panels that are perfect for refining your technique. Read the rest of this entry »
